Staff Profile: John Manahan – Project Manager

John Manahan

John is a valued member of the RCP Sydney team. He has over 10 years construction industry experience and has worked in project management and quantity surveying roles in NSW, the Middle East and Europe. John holds a Bachelor of Quantity Surveying and a Bachelor of Science in Construction Economics.

During his time at RCP, John has managed the delivery of several complex projects across a diverse range of sectors, with a recent project being the completion of the $200m David Jones Elizabeth Street Store redevelopment in Sydney’s CBD. The project included the integration of the David Jones Market Street store into the Elizabeth Street store, bringing the 93 year old building up to current code, whilst maintaining the rich history and heritage of the building.

John was instrumental in ensuring the successful completion of the redevelopment. Throughout construction, John worked closely with the client and builder to overcome many latent conditions and structural challenges, ensuring not a single day of trade was lost throughout the course of the project. Construction completion was achieved in April 2020, with the redevelopment setting a new benchmark for department stores in the southern hemisphere.

Most recently, John has been involved with the InterContinental Hotel Sydney refurbishment, Parkside Wolli Creek apartments and Seymours Residences in Sydney. He has key strengths in stakeholder management, design management and contract administration and has close involvement on all aspects of each project, delivering on client goals and objectives through his detailed knowledge and understanding of the contract and programme.

In addition to his outstanding reputation of successfully delivering complex large-scale projects within operational environments, John is renowned for his communications skills, reliability and integrity and has become a trusted advisor to many of his clients.
