A big congratulations to our Adelaide project team on the opening of this major retail expansion!
The Cohen Group project is the largest private sector retail property expansion currently underway in South Australia.
This initial phase of the Stage 6 development has doubled Burnside Village’s footprint to 38,500 sqm and introduced over 80 new retailers. It has added 560 undercover car parks across two basement levels including E-vehicle charging facilities.
Designed by Buchan Group, the highlight is the Lanik roof – 609 glass panels of varying sizes provide an expanse of natural light. The development features dedicated precincts for home and lifestyle, entertainment and dining plus health and wellbeing.
This initial phase launch offered a preview of the evolution of Burnside Village, with further staged retail and dining being opened from June through to September 2025.
The phased approach allows the existing Burnside Village to continue operating with less disruption during the extensive fit-out of Stage 6 in place of a shutdown allowing new areas to open while other are still being formalised.
Cohen Group CEO, Gregg Downer said this phase, “…marks a significant evolution for the much-loved Burnside Village with the completion of the initial structural phase of this transformative project. RCP Senior Project Manager, Luke Minicozzi said, “It absolutely has been a great team effort from day one, and the quality of the outcome reflects that, from initial design and planning, through base building construction and integration of tenant Fitouts with national contractors, the site has been bustling peaking at over 500 people as we pushed for opening, we look forward to assisting in the delivery of the remaining tenancies over the coming months.”
Accessibility has been a focus, providing nine lifts, four travelators, and three escalators. The development also incorporates a substantial 365kW solar system with the potential for future expansion.
